Salespeak
I felt two different ways with this article. First, I do not believe advertising has gotten that out of hand. People still have minds, and many people are frugal with their spending, they do not go out and buy everything in sight. Also, when it comes to school selling out companies, I personally applaud them. When it comes to schools their main objective is to teach students and they need to reach certain levels on standardized testing. With the money they receive from these companies they can buy new textbooks, hire more teachers, get more desks and improve the school atmosphere in general. Second I do believe commercials are starting to become ridiculous, especially on television. When watching a one hour show many times the commercials will take up to fifteen minutes that hour, and sometimes even more. It has gotten to a point where I do not even watch live television anymore, instead I record it back later in order to fast forward through the commercials. It is my sincere hope that we will not get so absorbed with advertising that we name our children after them. I agree with Fox when he says that a name describes an individual, Society should not lose their grip on that. Individuality is hard enough to get, and maintain without associating yourself with a soft drink company.

I think that the media has more power of some people than we think, women inparticular. It is unhealthy, and I agree that people shouldn't lose sight of their individuality.
